[MV Review] TWICE – “Knock Knock”

Twice come back with another special version of their flawless “Twicecoaster” mini album with “Knock Knock” and it’s probably their most “pop” release since “Cheer Up.” “Knock Knock” is carried by a solemn melody on a guitar and the rest of the song makes use of the guitar and synths. It reminds me a lot of A.Kor’s “Always” and AOA’s brilliant “Get Out.” It’s not as good as “TT”, Twice’s best song, but it is surely catchy as hell and very pleasant to the ear. I’ve had “Nanannanana knock on my door” stuck in my head so much as of late, and I keep singing it. JYP honestly had an idea for a classic throwback K-pop golden age hook song and he succeeded.

The music video is a switch of from Twice’s usual “one concept per member” however it still remains very Twice like in style. But it’s also a great switch up from Twice’s usual MV formula by incorporating stop-motion and a more comfortable and laid back atmosphere that matched the feel of the song. The members all looked great with the standouts being Chaeyoung (great styling+she gets more singing lines!), Sana, Momo, and Jeongyeon-who I’m happy to see got more screen time and lines this time around. She’s one of Twice’s best singers and one of the prettiest members so to see her not get shoved to the side was a great change up. All of the other members looked great as usual such as Nayeon, Jihyo, Dahyun, and Tzuyu. Sadly Mina got the sad end of the stick for styling this time around with the extreme curls and pig tails, but she looks amazing with the wavy hair so it’s all good.

Still, this is Chaeyoung’s era.

OMFG she’s the cutest thing here.

Overall this was another great comeback for Twice. I can see myself playing “Knock Knock” alot in the near future and I look forward to hearing official instrumentals for once.
